CROSS POINTE DEVELOPMENT GETS UNDER WAY IN WESTON

WESTON, Wis. – Construction will begin later this month on the first retail
structure at Cross Pointe, a planned $50 million mixed use development near
St. Claire’s Regional Medical Center in the Village of Weston. This moderate-
density development will add retail, medical office and senior housing structures
to a quickly growing section of the metropolitan Wausau area.

“This type of project is the dream we had on the original planning commission
in 1965,” said Vilas Machmueller, Weston’s village president. “This is what we
envisioned, and our patience has paid off.”

Direct Development & Construction Inc. of Green Bay is serving as Cross Pointe’s
general contractor and primary developer. Team Schierl Companies of Stevens Point
is the land owner and a partner in the development.

A four-year development cycle is anticipated for the 65-acre site at Weston Avenue
and Franciscan Way. The site is located near the intersection of State Highway 29
and Camp Phillips Road.

“This will be a great development, and certainly a prime addition to that developing
area of Weston,” Machmueller said. “We were very impressed with the original plan
and layouts, and we’re anxiously awaiting the continuation of this new central area
of the village.”

When completed, Cross Pointe will encompass approximately 647,000 total square feet.
This includes 99,000 square feet for neighborhood retail, 188,000 square feet for
medical office, 135,000 square feet for junior anchor retail, and 225,000 square feet
for senior independent apartments. A town center-style neighborhood retail development
is planned for the heart of Cross Pointe.

“We envision Cross Pointe will become a key destination and point of orientation for
employees and visitors of St. Claire’s, as well as residents of Weston and other nearby
communities,” said John Hopfensperger, president of Direct Development & Construction Inc.

Roadways and underground utilities are already in place, with construction-ready pad sites
set for future construction.
